The Orphic License, version 1.0
The Orphic Church gives this work freely, everywhere and without end. It asks nothing in return but these few things.
You may
- Copy, share, print and give away this work, whole or in part.
- Adapt it and translate it, and share what you make.
- Use it for noncommercial research, including machine learning.
In the gift
- Credit the Orphic Church, with the orphic.church link and the edition's citation block, exactly as provided.
- For a quotation of a few lines, the edition's compact citation is enough.
- Include this licence, or a link to it.
- Say what you changed, if you changed anything.
- Share anything you make from this work under this same licence.
You may not
- Use it commercially in any form: no selling it, no charging for access, no advertising around it, and no putting it into anything sold, such as a product, a dataset or a commercial machine-learning model.
- Sell digital copies. Printed copies may be sold only at their actual cost of printing and delivery, with no margin, and with an itemized account of those costs published beside the price.
- Claim to own anything this licence leaves free, or lock it away, or add terms or locks that take this gift from anyone else.
- Present a changed or unsigned text as the Orphic Church's edition, or tamper with its signatures.
- Claim to be the Orphic Church, or its peer, or endorsed by it, unless the Orphic Church has signed your key.
Always free
- The ancient texts and older editions belong to everyone. We claim nothing in them, in facts, or in anyone else's work.
- Anyone may say their work descends from the Orphic Church, recognized or not.
- You may call yourself whatever you like. We ask, but do not require, that you choose a name other than Orphic Church, so that attribution stays clear.
Our word
- The Orphic Church is known only by its key, and knows no other. What it signs is its word, including every version of this licence. Its peers are those whose keys it has signed.
- If you break these conditions, your use is outside the gift. Put it right within 30 days, or when the Orphic Church signs your return, and you are within it again.
- Nothing in this licence is given up unless the Orphic Church signs to say so.
- This work comes as it is. We make no promises about it and answer for no harm that comes from its use.
